The Silver Streak survived in 1983 through early 1984, and like it's more expensive sisters, the Turbo and Formula 1, it now sported a the smaller gusset, BUT unlike it's more expensive sisters made in the land of the rising sun, the early 84 Silver Streak was made in Taiwan, used the same jigs/process as the original Viper. It was supposed to tie into the whole Indy car theme started with the Formula 1 but the Indy car tie-in kind of fizzled out, partly because Sandy was not happy with the end result of the Formula 1. Only the team bikes had gold decals applied to them, and no team member ever rode a Diamond Back II Silver Streak. light (or the sun), the silver foil decals would yellow over time, that is why you see so many Silver Streaks and Vipers with foil decals that have a yellow tinge to them, this an unfortunate degradation that leads many to believe the decals were originally gold. Silver Streak decals were never gold, though exposed to U.V. My parents bought me a 1982 Silver Streak, the foil decals were SILVER, my brother recieved on for his one in late 1983 and the decals were SILVER. ![]()
